Systemwide Renovation

This program was initiated to renovate the system infrastructure and modernize the original fleet of 439 transit cars. The program upgraded the existing system of 95 miles of double track and 39 stations. The program incorporated AFC modernization, shops and structure upgrades, station improvements, systems enhancement, and rail vehicle modification. The station renovations consisted of escalator and elevator improvements including replacement of 19 escalators in addition to the overhaul and modernization of 120 escalators.

TRS provided construction management, quality assurance, office engineering, claims management/resolution and inspection services for the various projects to renovate the BART operating system. TRS’ personnel were responsible for monitoring the installation of all phases of construction including architectural, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. Our staff was also responsible for upholding the installation standards as detailed in the contract documents, current codes and standards. TRS’ has performed services on the following partial list of projects: park and ride lots, Intermodal facilities, security enhancement, Concord shop expansion, automatic train control implementation, escalator/elevator modernization, seismic retrofit, communication installations and central facilities modifications.
